On June 19th, the Earth Child Institute, in partnership with UNEP, ユニセフ, the British Council, HACEY, FAS, and Escola Parque, hosted its side-event during Rio 20, bringing together a panel of environmental youth advocates and specialists. The event provided a space for youth and children to speak about their initiatives and experiences, as well as their expectations for the outcomes of Rio 20. The panel discussed youth involvement in environmental policymaking, with a focus on the UNCSD outcome document, social inclusion, and their own projects. ECI also presented its Global Action Classroom project, which brings children and youth from different backgrounds and countries together to discuss environmental issues and exchange experiences throug a virtual platform. The event not only succeeded in its goals, but also shed light on the demands of this important group of stakeholders in the UNCSD debates.
